McKay's getting ready for Christmas!!!

I looked at the pictures on your blog Mikaela and decided that McKay was just spreading "the red stuff" getting ready for the holidays! Wow-- first clue is that everything is quiet--that's when you start checking!!! Oh, what fun! Love, Mom

I thought this was funny!

The Big News---To Date At Least!

Well several of you have not probably heard about the possible upcoming changes in the Selbe household. No, I'm not pregnant! After days like yesterday (see my blog) I am GRATEFUL to pretty much be barren! lol! Anyways, Charles is off to St. Louis this afternoon to interview for a Branch Manager's Position with his company. The position is for the downtown Salt Lake City office. So yep, we might have to become those dreaded Utah Mormons. I'm not so sure I am ready for that. Anyways, I just thought I'd let ya know. Say a little prayer for him if you think about it. He actually interviews tomorrow (Tuesday) in the morning. Either way, we will be happy with the outcome because we'll get to stay here in Spokane. I have so many mixed emotions about what might be, but that's only because I'm counting my chickens before they hatch.

I'll go, but I promise to update after we hear what happens with the job! ~Mikaela

Scentsy Party

I am just getting ready to shove off for Utah for Thanksgiving, but I am posting this because I don't have time to send out invitations before I go. I friend of mine talked me in to having a Scentsy party. Scentsy is a wickless candle. You burn essentially scented was in a candle warmer. If any of you in the family or any of your friends for that matter want to come it will be next Thursday, November 29th at 7:00 at my house. If you can't be there (I know there's a Spelling Bee in Connell that night) and you want to order I have all of the catalogs, order forms, and samples at my house. Also, I am assured if we order next week the order will be here by Christmas.

Love,
Nichole

The Birthday Boy

Ethan had a birthday party on November 12th. We had 8 four and five year olds. I know we may be kind of crazy with those numbers, but Sam was around to help so it wasn't too bad. His party was jungle themed, so we played pass the poison snake (kind of like musical chairs), pin the banana on the monkey, animal charades, and Tarzan says. The kids had a blast. The 13th is really Ethan's birthday, so he had to wait to open gifts from mom and dad that day. He and Spencer were both up at 6:00so we let him open gifts before Sam went to work. He got a remote control car which is something that he really wanted. The only bummer was that he had to wait 8 hours for the battery to charge!

The Pictures are Great!

Thanks to all who post the pictures! Myaela & Jeremy, those look awesome. At least I know what you look like! And Cyd it looks like you do have a pet after all! Hey, that sounds like you had a great game last night. Wow, you really socked it to UC Irvine! I'm trying to not be too excited about Hawaii since I will feel bad about leaving this cold weather! But, you know how it is--I know that we will have fun and get to see Cydney play. Korrine, are you enjoying Kris' visit? Must, get back to the dogs!! (I am "sitting" Buzz!) Love, Grandma K

Fall Fun!

Last night, Charles ran into Petco to get some cat food, and McKay started fussing and so I took him in too. He LOVES Petco. We should've just taken him in anyway. He ran all around the store laughing and smiling and trying to pet all the animals. He got bit by a farrat because he reached his hand in. lol! He seriously just loves all animals. He loved the turtles too, so I'm thinking that Grandma K. needs to get more turles!
Today we took McKay to Manito Park to feed the ducks. We got some video of him feeding ducks, and every time he threw a piece of bread in the water he'd giggle like crazy as the birds would go for it. It was hilarious!

After we went to the park, we came home and raked the leaves and worked in the yard. So yes, I'm happy to report that we no longer have a walnut tree in our front yard! YIPEE! Here's McKay having some fun in the leaves! Happy November everything!

IT'S THAT TIME AGAIN--CALENDAR PAGES

Sorry, I know that it seems you just gave me a family page, but I need one of your choosing by NOV. 15th. Thanks (if you think that it is too much of a hassle--let me know!) Mom Knight

More Pics

Here are more pics from the party!

Grandma's Trunk or Treat!

Okay, who painted Ethan and Spencer's faces? Those turned out so cute! Oh, and I should mention that if you have a side-ways picture, you have to turn it in your folder before uploading it onto the blog because it won't let you turn side-ways pictures to face forward once they're uploaded. Not really sure why. So just FYI for everyone for future! But man, their faces turned out cute. Did they wear that make up to go trick or treating?

So here are the pictures from Grandma's party. Sorry I don't have pics of all the kids. If you arrived late, I probably didn't get your pic, so sorry! Hope you all enjoy them! ~Mikaela

Halloween Pictures

Ethan and Spencer are the devil and Underdog for Halloween. Here are some pictures of pumpkin carving, face paint (preschool) and Halloween costumes. I hope everyone gets lots of candy tonight!

Pumpkin Bread Recipe

I have been making this pumpkin bread like a few times a week now. Charles has been loving it, and I've given loaves away and also to his co-workers. Everyone wants more, so I thought I'd post this new recipe. It makes 3 loaves of the regular-sized loaf pans, so it's a big recipe. Anyways, I just wanted to pass it along to all of you! Happy Baking! ~Mikaela

Pumpkin Bread

3 cups white sugar
4 eggs
2/3 cup water
2 teaspoons baking soda
1 teaspoon baking powder
1 teaspoon ground allspice
3 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
2 teaspoons salt
1 teaspoon ground nutmeg
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/2 teaspoon ground cloves
1 (15 ounce) can pumpkin puree
1 cup chopped walnuts
1 cup raisins
1 cup vegetable oil
DIRECTIONS
Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Grease and flour three 7 x 3 inch loaf pans.
Mix oil, sugar, and eggs together in a large bowl. Mix in pumpkin puree and water. Stir together flour, soda, baking powder, salt, and spices. Add to the pumpkin mixture, and mix until just combined. Stir in nuts and raisins. Divide batter into prepared pans.
Bake for 1 hour. Cool on wire racks.

Zoey(the 3 year old) and aubrey play really well together and aubrey is starting to pick up on words that zoey says like "thank you" and please. SOOO nice! The weather here is perfect. We have the AC off and the windows open. Its beautiful! Hope everyone is great! Love you all, -the sessannas

Kortney!

Wow, it sounds like you've done it all --nothing was mentioned about your classes??? But, I'm that you are putting just as much emphasis on them....RIGHT?? So, is it getting "wear your winter coat" time? The pictures are great!

Hey everyone. I think that we will do the Halloween P at 11 am. The Gold and Greeen Ball is that night and that may make it easier. I will post more. Let me know what you think....Love Grandma K

an update from the Cress'

So, after over a month, Jeremy and I are FINALLY settled in. Today we’re going to hang the last few pictures on the wall, and the apartment will be pretty much finished. I’m actually really amazed at how much stuff we were able to cram into our tiny apartment. It’s kind of a miracle, actually. But stuff is crammed into the closet, under the bed, in the cabinets, and behind the table, and it all pretty much fits. Lol.

School is going pretty good; I’m taking 15 credits, not the minimum amount required, but also not the maximum amount available. The classes I’m taking are Intro to Biology, Descriptive Astronomy, and Linear Algebra. I wasn’t too excited about them at first, but I actually think I’ll like them. Jeremy is taking Intro to Macroeconomics, some accounting class (I’m not quite sure what the actual title is), and Weight Training and he seems to really be enjoying his classes because they actually tie into what he wants to do.

This past week has been pretty hectic for me, with two tests to study for and two homework packets to do. I’m definitely looking forward to next week, when I only have one test and it’s not until Friday. One nice thing about this week, though, was that Jeremy had Sunday, Monday, and Tuesday off, so we got to spend a little more time together than usual. He usually has Sunday and Monday off, but it was nice for him to have an extra day off. He works now at a restaurant called Prospectors (I believe it’s a bar and grill) as a food expeditor. As such, he’s responsible for making sure the food looks presentable before it gets sent out to the tables, ordering the cooks, runners, and even sometimes the servers and/or management around. It’s a stressful job sometimes, but he likes it pretty well. Especially since he’s next in line to be promoted to a server from within the restaurant. He’s really looking forward to that because that’s really what he likes to do. Plus, you get more in tips.

Other than this stuff, not a whole ton has been going on in our lives, but I thought I should probably update before I get another nasty letter from Mikaela. (just kidding!) We miss and love you all!!

I'm supposed to be doing my taxes right now

Well I have been coerced into putting in my 2 cents. Didn't you know that the dollar is down though? So my post might be as well!
Cute pics of McKay and family (kyle) pics. I should send pictures on here too but they are at home and comoputer time is a premium to be had with 3 teens and Bergen.

Does anyone want to go on a cruise in December. I'm back to thinking maybe hawaii. I can get airfaire for $284

Jase had an interception last night at the game and got 35 yards and got within 10 yards of goal line. To bad it happened at 10 secs left in game so game ended! BUt on a high note for him!
Dane, will be coming upon Brant & Coleman in football in about 2 weeks. It is a monday game. Not sure of the date. We shall watch Pasco get pummeled..... Everyone stay tuned....maybe it'll be broadcast over the internet.

Does anyone else have no school Thursday and Friday?

Has everyone heard that Jase soloed last month in the airplane?
Rachel is in Volleyball and BErgen in soccer so what the heck am I doing on this? Do I really have time to be typing this...... NO! So HELLO and Goodbye all and I will be more diligent in checking the blog out more often.

Where did all those legs come from!!!

That is funny funny! Even Montana--who had to hold him??? I'm glad to see those crazy and great pictures. Actually, Mikaela, I thought from the look on McKay's face that he was mad because he had to wear that hat! It would only seem crazy if he were wearing it at Christmas time! Have a great day!! Grandma K

Something Tells Me....

...that the whitest legs of that bunch belong to the old man of that family! haha!
Those pictures turned out really great! Did Kathryn take them?

Man, this really stinks. McKay broke the spacebar on this keyboard. I'm going to have to switch it over because it is sticking and driving me crazy!!!!!!

I just thought I would post this post from my own blog because I think it's funny! So be prepared to be entertained!

So when McKay was an infant, I bought him this cute little Halloween hat. He wore it around Halloween for a while and stuff. It was cute. I thought he looked cute in it. However, he has managed to find this hat, and won't stop wearing it. He puts it on himself. He loves it. I've introduced new hats to him that actually fit, but he'll take them off and put this old Halloween hat on. I actually think he looks like Joe Pesci on Home Alone wearing that fitted little stocking cap. It makes me laugh. I really don't care though. In fact, he wore the hat to breakfast on Saturday. Everyone kept stopping by and saying, oh what a cute hat. So funny! So here is the infant hat-wearer, and the "robber" version of the same hat! Oh, and did I mention that the eyes on the hat glow in the dark? No wonder he loves it! VERY COOL! Oh, and wasn't McKay just so cute when he was small? I've forgotten what that was like! hehe!

Kyle Knight Family Checkin' In!

Hey! It's actually Cydney writing for the whole family, but just wanted to say hello from all of us. We just got our family pictures developed and I uploaded them to blogger for all of you to check them out! Love you all, hope God keeps you safe and see you soon!

Criss Cross Applesauce

Okay, so I'm feeling the chastisement of Mikaela and Mom, so I am finally blogging. My excuse is that nothing exciting is happening in my life so I don't want to bore everyone. I am teaching piano lessons. My student enrollment is up from 5 from last year to 9 this year. It is keeping me quite busy at least 3 afternoons a week. I am still watching Lisa's kids and Jarin is pottytrained so that makes it easier. Mom and I picked apples at Nielsen's last Friday, so I am trying to gear myself up to make applesauce. It is pretty easy to do, but messy. I don't necessarily even like to eat the stuff myself (my kids love it) I just like to look at all of the pretty jars on my shelf! I know, I am crazy. Well, gotta go the apples are calling.

Yeah! Yeah!

Thanks to all of you that we haven't heard from for quite sometime! It's great to learn that Cydney is still Knight on the inside--even if she is "red" on the outside! And yeah we'd love to see one of your games--maybe you'll have to make your TV debut!!

Aubrey, Where has the baby gone? She just looks so grown up.. But, you know the terrible 2's (actually, I think they last from 18 months to 3!) She just looks super. When will you know about "your" house?

Kelli--you are still alive. Hope you are having a great time in Alabama! It surely feels like we are starting winter early....brrrrr! Love Grandma

We are back

Hello Knight family-

Things are great here in Maryland. Alan, Aubrey and I got moved into the condo and love the place. I put pics up on myspace, so for those of you with kids in High school, ask them to show you pics of our new place on my site. We are in the process of looking for a house. We found a place we like and put in an offer for it. We will see how that works out. Aubrey is getting huge. Shes growing like crazy and i buy new shoes for her every month! Alan is starting school here in January and is working 3-11 pm. Im staying busy cooking and cleaning and running around for shots and doctors appointments. lol. ahh, the life of a mom. oh come on, you know what im talking about! Thanks for the posts. I will be able to check this thing now, YEY! We love you all! -Love the Sessannas

It's The Lone Ute

Hey family, I think that I have gotten more than a few emails from people telling me that I need to get off my duff and post. So i had nothing to do between workouts and had the brilliant idea to write! :) Everything is going great here. Basketball is definitely harder than I expected but I have come to terms with the fact that good things in life are hard to get. So I am perservering and working hard. Already had a few marriage proposals, lol, but don't worry, I have regretfully turned them all down. I am planning on being a phys. assit. not sure what my major will be, but then again that changes weekly like any other college student. I will be home the weekend of general conference until that friday so I hope to see you all soon. Go utes and ps, come to a game, please. I am almost 90 % sure that if half the Knights showed up, it just might double our fan base, lol. Love you all, Cydney oh and by the way, the forst game is nov. 3rd and the first practice is oct. 12th.

Family Chastizement!

Wow Kelli! It's amazing you posted. I really only check the blog about once a week now, and so sorry I'm a bit late on the reply. No one else ever posts (aside from mom) anyways, so I don't usually have to worry about missing out on info.

Okay, so if anyone still reads this thing, type up a post. You should all have the password, and the login is rayknightfamily. If you don't have the password, email me: mikaelaselbe@yahoo.com (mom, if you're reading this, please update this email on the family phone list too!) I can get the password to you.

I need some entries from the following:

Kortney--how's life in Rexburg? Has it snowed yet? Let us know all about it.

Jase--How was homecoming? Where are pictures of you and your date? Who'd you go with, what did you do? All the lovely details!

Dane--How's football going? How's it not to be the "loser" of the high school now that you're a sophomore! hehe!

Katelyn--How's life in Connell for you? When does basketball start? Are you taking driver's ed?

Myaela--How's married life? Haven't heard from ya in ages or about ya. So update us. How's school? How many credits are you taking? Are you in the band again this year? What's going on? lol!

Korrine--How's life back in Maryland? Where are you guys living? How's Aubrey adjusting? How's Alan? All that stuff, since I didn't see you before you left or at all when Alan came home! So tell ME, if everyone else seems to know.

Cydney--When's your first b-ball game? What's your schedule for the year? Maybe one of these times we'll come and see ya. Do you play Gonzaga? Let me know, so we can get some tickets to that game for sure!

Hailey--Is high school everything you thought it would be? Are you liking Kamaikin? How's the dance team?

Coleman and Brant--How is football going? How's PHS? That's so weird, btw, that you're freshman. It's weird because it means I'm old!
I would love to hear from anyone else too, so UPDATE away. I live in "outter-darkness" and I never hear what's going on. No one informs me, truthfully!

Also, what's this I hear about Dad's b-day and going to the temple? See, I'm hearing information from like the 3rd hand with ZERO details.

So all-in-all, get your butts blogging. Oh, and Laron and Sonja, I've never even seen a pic of the new arrival. How sad is that? So maybe you should post one today! hehe!

~Mikaela

A Little Update...

Since no one posts anything anymore but Mom and Mikaela, I thought I'd share a little bit of our exciting and nervous news! We are moving to Huntsville, AL. I say this with a bit of sadness, as Scott also received an offer in Tri-Cities. We chose the harder choice because we felt that it was right, but it was and still is VERY hard for me to accept. Oh well, maybe in a few years. We get to fly down next week to look for a house, and to meet with future co-workers. I get to stay in Las Vegas for a bit until I get a job in Huntsville. So if anyone wants to plan a last minute trip to Sin City, I'll be here for a while! That's about all thats going on with us. Life in the limbo stage is never fun, so I'm pretty much a stress freak right now! I think thats probably a typical trait for Knight women though!

CONGRATS! OR CONDOLENCE!

Couple of weeks ago our Ward got a change in Bishopric. Our former Bishop, Alan Hadley, was released and put in as counselor in the Kennewick Mission Presidency. Doug Edmonds (Seminary teacher) was sustained as our Bishop with Chris Eskildsen and Sam Harris as counselors. Sam looks a lot more nervous than Chris!! (Chris was in the old Bishopric!) Hey, how come only Mikaela and I post anything ???

Finally, I am thoroughly enjoying working in the Temple. It is an awesome experience. Just sign up to do initiatory--it makes you realize great blessings--it's one of my favorite places to work!

We just got new additions to our family--and they are already trained--the missionaries (Sisters for now) are living in our basement. I suppose sometime in the two year committment we will have Elders!

Have a great day! Love, Grandma K.

Sin City News!

Still trying to catch my breath. We: Nichole, Mikaela and I flew to Vegas. Kelli had gotten us tickets to Celine Dion! It was super --almost as good as our time shopping, going to the Temple, getting pedicures, movies and good food! We flew in on Mark's BD and left on Sunday after Church (All that is except Nichole, who felt it necessary to be in our ward on Sunday--you'd think that her husband was going to be put in the Bishopric or something!!) So, it is great to have two Son-in-laws serving together in our Bishopric!! Best to each of you Chris and Sam!

We even helped Kelli and Scott get packed to move on Monday. Scott's job will be ending soon and we are all praying that their next permanet address will include Washington state!! What would life be like in Alabama anyway.. Have a good week. Love, Grandma K Ps. This color is supposed to represent how hot Vegas can be!!!

Shower

It was nice seeing everyone at the shower last night. I hope no one was offended (Becky) about the impersonations! I did have a little chuckle on the way home recounting mom's impersonation of Nichole! Wow it was accurate! Anyways, I hope you enjoy the casseroles Sonja and that everyone had a nice time as I did.

I'm also posting a link to this kraft kitchen website for cakes. I know Nichole's going to be baking a cake soon for Spencer, and I thought these had some cute ideas...especially for those of you with September b-days or your kids, I should say. So I hope it helps ya out!

Thanks Mikaela

Thanks for the updates! I think that it is great. Yesterday, Mikaela, Nichole, and I went to Aunt Lora Jo's to see both Ashley (Daryl and MaryEllen had brought her too--visiting from Arizona) and Rusty. He had brought his daughter, Taylor, who is surely a cutie! We had a great visit--at least the "older generation", who separated from the younger ones.

Hope that you are all planning on attending the Reunion at Windust. Heard that the Jenks are going to Priest Lake at the Eppich's cabin for a reunion this week also--too bad we have to live in tents! Oh, well I hear the weather is supposed to be a little kinder--but, maybe rain showers! See ya on the River! Love, Mom

Updating the Blog

How many people in this family actually read the blog? I'm just curious. Well I found out that some of our stalker-like cousins (the crazy thing is, they're not even stokers, or stalkers, as I like to call them) have been checking us out! Well who can really blame them? I mean we are an AWESOME family after all...even with a few mishaps like Mark! hehehe! Anyways, I have been doing some updating to the blog, as you can clearly see. I've also added some links off to the side of other bloggers...there's a link for Alison and Melissa's blogs as well as my own. There's also one for the Phillips family. I thought it was cool that they've been reading about us, and now we're all going to be able to get our revenge and find out what's going on in THEIR lives! HAHAHAHAHA! I just wanted you all to know I'm doing some changes, and adding some things. Feel free to leave feedback if you don't like things!

Thanks--Mikaela

Oh, and Alison and Melissa, if you're reading this, we're really glad that we now know you're blogging...it's nice to be in touch!

SUMMER IS PASSING!

Wow, I can't believe summer is passing so rapidly. 4th of July has come and gone; summer is declining! Grandpa and I left last Sunday afternoon in our PU and 5th wheeler. It was a long drive to Twin Lakes via Grand Coulee and some switch backs and steep inclines, but we made it about 9pm. Just in time to get settled before dark. We got the slides out and ate and then readied for bed. Our dog, didn't like it that we locked him in the kitchen area and out of our sleeping area. I could hear him scratching for a short while. He had spent most of the trip riding on the little perch between Grandpa and I.

Next morning we un-hooked the trailer so we could explore. As much as we would have liked having the camping spot by the lake; it was about a quarter of a mile away. We drove to the South lake and then the North. They were quiet areas filled with homes on the lake for about a quarter of the lake. We believe the rest of the lakes area was on Indian property so it was not developed.

After breakfast we decided to "hook up" and go on up to Kettle Falls. It was beautiful as we headed back via way of SandPoint, Idaho with several lakes all quite full of houses and vacation'ers. Past Saegle, Idaho, we decided to check the campground out at Round Lake (We; had stopped the 2nd night at a campground on Lake Ponderai (sp?) It was a beautiful area). About a quarter of a mile of the freeway, Dad said that we needed to stop because he had a brake on fire or wheel bearing and to get the fire extinguisher. By the time I got into the trailer and got it, he had determined that it was just hot. Another person had stopped and a man that lived accross the street from where we were came out. The resident offered for us to pull into his yard when it cooled down. (the road was quite narrow and I think there was a lot of tourist traffic). About this same time a man coming from the opposite house that was down a lane showed up. He was headed into town, but said we were welcome to take it up to his house, that he had a lot of tools we could use. We did this and found out the wheel was about to fall off. After several trips to a travel trailer place looking for bearings to fix our wheel, we finally decided that most everyone that knew anything had left for the 4th of July, so we unhooked and came home.

Grandpa and Cliff Perkins went up on the 5th and finally got it back home. They figured that someone had put the wrong sized bearings on it before we bought it. I guess Round Lake will have to be saved for another exploration!

The 4th of July was spent at Kyle's. Everyone surely enjoyed the pool (at least those who ventured in). Most of us were content to just watch and enjoy a scrumptious barbecue!

Hey, Mikaela, I figured that you would at least post pict of the before and after (house-wise)! After everyone spending a lot of time painting and taking down wallpaper--the end results looks super. It sounds like she is starting in on the yards--you know, removing the "JUngle"!!

I am excited to get together at Windust for our Family Reunion. Come anyone it will be fun! Love, Grandma K (ps hope that you got the updated phone numbers--which reminds me: YOU CAN START ON YOUR CALENDAR PAGES!!!!!)

Family Reunion

The Knight Family Reunion will be July 19-21. That is a Thursday thru Saturday. I'm sorry if there are conflicts on that date. I tried to accomodate everyone, but there were also conflicts on the week before and the week after. Also, there weren't enough campsites available at windust on the other dates--go figure! Please let me know if you will be going and for what nights as soon as possible, so I can figure out costs.

Thanks,
Nichole

New Date!

We got the keys yesterday, and have been over to the house a few times to show a few people. I was getting really stressed at thinking about having to be 100% packed, painted, and carpets cleaned and all before we moved in, so we've postponed the moving date until the 16th of June. So I just wanted to tell you all of the change. Thanks in advance to everyone who is so willing to help us out with all sorts of little things! We REALLY appreciate it! We really feel blessed to belong to such a great family! Thanks for all you do for us!
Love, Charles, Mikaela, and McKay!

The Big Move....FINALLY!

Charles and I are going in on Monday morning at 9 to sign all the papers for our house! We will be doing the final walk-through on Monday, and then getting the keys on Tuesday. Hopefully those living in the house will leave it somewhat clean, so I don't end up spending 4 days cleaning it before we move. We're moving on Saturday the 9th, just FYI! Anyways, I'll update more on the day we actually "buy" the house!
