SUMMER IS PASSING!

Wow, I can't believe summer is passing so rapidly. 4th of July has come and gone; summer is declining! Grandpa and I left last Sunday afternoon in our PU and 5th wheeler. It was a long drive to Twin Lakes via Grand Coulee and some switch backs and steep inclines, but we made it about 9pm. Just in time to get settled before dark. We got the slides out and ate and then readied for bed. Our dog, didn't like it that we locked him in the kitchen area and out of our sleeping area. I could hear him scratching for a short while. He had spent most of the trip riding on the little perch between Grandpa and I.

Next morning we un-hooked the trailer so we could explore. As much as we would have liked having the camping spot by the lake; it was about a quarter of a mile away. We drove to the South lake and then the North. They were quiet areas filled with homes on the lake for about a quarter of the lake. We believe the rest of the lakes area was on Indian property so it was not developed.

After breakfast we decided to "hook up" and go on up to Kettle Falls. It was beautiful as we headed back via way of SandPoint, Idaho with several lakes all quite full of houses and vacation'ers. Past Saegle, Idaho, we decided to check the campground out at Round Lake (We; had stopped the 2nd night at a campground on Lake Ponderai (sp?) It was a beautiful area). About a quarter of a mile of the freeway, Dad said that we needed to stop because he had a brake on fire or wheel bearing and to get the fire extinguisher. By the time I got into the trailer and got it, he had determined that it was just hot. Another person had stopped and a man that lived accross the street from where we were came out. The resident offered for us to pull into his yard when it cooled down. (the road was quite narrow and I think there was a lot of tourist traffic). About this same time a man coming from the opposite house that was down a lane showed up. He was headed into town, but said we were welcome to take it up to his house, that he had a lot of tools we could use. We did this and found out the wheel was about to fall off. After several trips to a travel trailer place looking for bearings to fix our wheel, we finally decided that most everyone that knew anything had left for the 4th of July, so we unhooked and came home.

Grandpa and Cliff Perkins went up on the 5th and finally got it back home. They figured that someone had put the wrong sized bearings on it before we bought it. I guess Round Lake will have to be saved for another exploration!

The 4th of July was spent at Kyle's. Everyone surely enjoyed the pool (at least those who ventured in). Most of us were content to just watch and enjoy a scrumptious barbecue!

Hey, Mikaela, I figured that you would at least post pict of the before and after (house-wise)! After everyone spending a lot of time painting and taking down wallpaper--the end results looks super. It sounds like she is starting in on the yards--you know, removing the "JUngle"!!

I am excited to get together at Windust for our Family Reunion. Come anyone it will be fun! Love, Grandma K (ps hope that you got the updated phone numbers--which reminds me: YOU CAN START ON YOUR CALENDAR PAGES!!!!!)
