When is Spring coming?

I really want spring to arrive!! We have a couple of horses that need ridden. It was good to be back at the Temple today--minus the leaded glass front doors. Apparently, someone broke them out a couple of weeks ago. No one has said if they are going to be replaced. They have put some frosted glass in their place. I understand that they will be getting security cameras. This is second time in about as many months that door has taken a hit. It is so sad. It is being patrolled now.

Last Sunday Arria was blessed by her Grandfather, Kyle and then later that night we attended when Kyle was set apart as Pasco North High Councilman. Just too bad we could not be in two places at once. Tom Black was set apart as High Councilor in Pasco Stake. Now that Pasco has been divided (Feb 20th.), it will seem sad not two see the Black's and Schull's at Stake activities.

I can see down to Coulson's--Spring must be coming... Fixing dinner, along w/ all the other Related Connellites! to take to the Davis Family. I feel it is one of the last things I can do for Vaughan. I've enjoyed visiting him the last few years and have felt sorrow for his loneliness. It has made me appreciate the goodness of my family and the blessing activity in the Church brings! I am aware of the Atonement and that I have accomplished very little and am so dependent upon the One who made everything possible for me. If I have learned anything it is to appreciate one's health and family and to cling to the teachings of a Living Prophet. May you continue on your upward path until we are united in eternity. I rejoice in those of yours and my ancestors who held to the iron rod and continued to be obedient. I cannot wait to embrace them with tears on my face for their sacrifices. Recipes!

Here is the recipe that I served last summer:
MEXICAN BREAKFAST CASSEROLE
6 corn Tortillas cut into squares
2-7 oz cans chopped Chiles (I use mild)
1 lb sausage--browned
1 lb shredded jack cheese
1/2 C. Milk
1/2 t Salt
1/2 t Pepper
1/2 t Cumin
1/2 t garlic Salt
1/4 t. onion Salt
8 eggs
Layer Tortillas, chiles, sausage, and cheese in 9x13 pan. Mix eggs, milk and spices together. Pour over the top of the layers. Refrigerate overnight. Bake @ 350 for 50-60 minutes. Serve with Salsa, Sour Cream etc.

These are two that I've made quite a lot:

BLUEBERRY BAKED FRENCH TOAST

12 slices day-old white bread - crust removed
2 pkg (8oz) Cream Cheese
1 C. Fresh or frozen Blueberries
12 eggs
2 C. Milk
1/3 C. Maple Syrup or honey

Sauce:
1 c. Sugar 2 T. Cornstarch 1 c. Water
1 C. Blueberries 1 T. Butter
Cut bread into 1 in cubes, place half in greased 13x9 pan.l cut cream cheese into 1 inch cubes, place over bread. Top with blueberries and remaining bread. In a laarge bowl beat eggs. Add milk and syrup, mix well. Pour over bread mixture. Cover and chill 8 hr or overnight. Remove from frig 30 min. before baking. Cover & bake 25-30 minutes @ 350. Uncover & bake 25-30 minutes more or until golden brown and center is set.
Sauce: In saucepan, combine sugar & cornstarch; add water. Bring to a boil over medium heat, boil for 3 min, stirring constantly. Stir in Blueberries , reduce heat. Simmer for 4-5 min or until blueberries have burst. Stir in butter until melted. Serve over Trench toast. Yild: 6-8 servings (1-3/4 c. Sauce)

PRALINE BAKED FRENCH TOAST
Buttermilk Syrup
1 c. Sugar 1/2 C. Butter 1/2 c. Buttermilk
Combine in saucepan and bring to boil. Remove from heat. Let stand one minute. Add: 1 t. soda and 1 t flavoring (Vanilla, maple, almond)

French Toast
1 loaf French Bread 8 large eggs 2 c. half and half 1 C. milk 2 T. sugar
1 t. Vanilla 1/4 t Cinnamon 1/4 t.l Nutmeg
Slice bread into about 20 slices, to fit into a buttered 9x13 pan. Should have two rows, slightly overlapping. In a larg bowl combine the egg, cream, sugar, vanilla, spices and salt; Mix with mixer til blended.l Pour over bread slices, making sure to cover well. Cover with foil and refrigerate overnight. Next day, preheat oven to 350. Spread praline topping evenly over the bread and bake for 40 min. or lightly browned and egg is set.l Serve with syrup
Praline Topping:
2 Stick Butter 1C.. Brown Sugar 1C. Chopped Pecans

This is the recipe I made last week:
APPLE LE-CREAM CHEESE STUFFED FRENCH TOAST
20 Slices Bread 8 Eggs 2 C. Half and Half 2 C. Milk 2t. Vanilla 1t Cinnamon 1/2 t Nutmeg
Filling:
16 oz cream Cheese 1 Egg, Beaten 1 t Vanilla 1 t Cinnamon 21 oz Can Apple Pie Filling
1. Mix the four filling ingredients together until well combine. Fold in the Apple pie filling
2. Spread cream cheese mixture over 10 slices of the bread and top with the other 10 slices forming a sandwich
3. Place bread sandwiches ina large baking pan that has been greased
4. Combine the eggs, half and half, milk, vanilla, & spices. Beat well.
5. Slowly pour the egg mixture over the top of the sandwiches until all the bread is soaked.
6. Cover & refrigerate overnight.
7. Bake @350 covered for approximately 40 minutes
8. Bake uncovered for an additional 20 minutes.
9. Let stand 10 mintes before cutting and serving.
10 Sprinkle with powedered sugar and toasted almonds. Serve warm with warm apple syrup.

WARM APPLE SYRUP
1 C. Sugar 2 T. cornstarch 1/4 t Nutmeg 2 T. Lime or Lemon Jice 2 C. Apple Juice 1/4 C. Butter
Mix sugar, cornstarch and nutmeg together. Add lime juice and apple juice. Boil together for 1 minute, then remove from heat and add butter.

HASH BROWN CRAB QUICHE
Grease 9x13 pan (or I used my crock pot)
1 pkg Hash Browns
3-4 Green Onion
1 8 oz Imitation Crab
1/2 C. Swiss cheese, grated
1/2 Colby Cheeswe, grated
4 Eggs
2 Cups Half and Half
1 t Salt
1/4 t. Cayenne Pepper
1 T. Fresh parsley
Preheat heat oven 425

Defrost package of hash brown. With a paper towel removed any excess moisture.
Press the hash browns along the bottom and up the sides of the pan.
Add 1 pkg of Imitation crab on top of potatoes; add 3-4 green (including green) sliced on top of crab. Sprinkle the cheese on top
Beat the eggs, cream , salt & spices until blended. Pour mixture over crab meat and cheeses. Bake 425 for 15 minutes then reduec heat to 300. Bake 40 minutes. Let cool 10 minutes. Cut and serve warm

I Can't Believe that you All Survived!

Today was a great family day for Ray and I. We hosted a breakfast for our children and their spouses. We have a Christmas Eve family traditon with all of our posterity, but the last several years we have had a kids and spouse get together. A couple of times (this year included), we've had a breakfast!

But, the part that amazes me is when the kids tell of some of their experiences from their growing up years--it is amazing that any of them made it to adulthood! And where were those negligent parents?

Just thinking today, how beautiful the changing leafs are. We have enjoyed a mixed up summer and early fall, but I would love for fall to keep hanging around. I like that Indian Summer feeling, but with the nights starting to get nippy, I know it won't last very long. I even like winter-- if I can stay inside! But, that's a long few months to be cooped up! Whatever, the Lord certainly has created a beautiful earth and I am fortunate to live here at this glorious time. I am privileged: I have a wonderful husband, a righteous family and good health. What more could I ask for? The gospel blesses my life continually.

I've been a little "bummed" ever since we sold our cabin in the Blue Mts. Mostly, because I had used money my Dad left me. I felt like I wanted something that the family would enjoy. So, I have been on the prowl to find a replacement (this time w/water). After a summer of looking, we found one on a lake (my desire was for water--remember!) It is more of a summer home. It has 2 bedrooms on the main floor, with vaulted ceiling in LR. The kitchen is in back of LR so together, it is fairly large area. The 2 brs on main floor are fairly small but the MB has a bath off of it. There is a half bath off the BR upstairs; and another bath downstairs, this one has a WD also. The kitchen is still pretty old but has a lot of nice cabinets and a DW! We are excited but a little frustrated because the owners do not want to be out until Nov 21. I don't like moving--but in the cold it's even worse! Guess we will be calling on family. Keep Nov 21 open (actually, it's a Sunday--I'm hoping they just might be out by that SAt).

We were wondering if the "crew" would show up since they were supposed to be here at 8am., but they had a flat tire on one of the trucks and waited 3 hrs for Les Swab to show up! Today, we went to Tollgate to move our "belongings" out of our mountain cabin. When we drove away, it was like saying "good-bye" to a treasured friend. We have had so many fun and happy times there. We hope that our children and grandchildren will fondly remember it. We trust that Jeff and his family will also have great times there. For so many of our children and mostly our in-laws that gave of their Saturday to load everything: THANK YOU!

so about a week ago Kira and I participated in a country singing competition called Nashville Country Star Junior Divison. we were lucky to have the finals in Connell so we didnt have to go really far. it was a fun experience and the girls there were really nice. we had to sing to country songs and the songs i sang was Suds in the Bucket and No Place That Far both by Sara Evans. Kira sang Home Sweet Home by Carrie Underwood and Somebody's Hero by Jamie O'Neal. it was really fun! in the end i ended up getting 2nd and kira got 3rd! we both got cash prizes too!!!!(that was the most exciting part lol) and the 1st place winner was Madison Mowe from Okanagan. and the good thing was there was only a 1 point difference between the 1st place girl and me! i am so glad i decided to do the competition and maybe i'll end up doing the senior divison next year.

Hey family! so Prom was on saturday and I had so much fun. I went with Andres Flores. We went roller bladeing and then ate at this italian place which was pretty good. ( I still think Olive Garden is the best!) The dance was pretty much amazing. My date and I were the prom king and queen. crazy right? what are the odds of you and your date being king and queen? ya I had a great time. I am just sad that it is my last dance in high school :( In the pictures are Andres Flores, Maira Viveros, and I.

hey family!!! you have probably all already heard that i am an alternate for football cheerleading! i was the only freshman to make the team (if being an alternate is considered making it lol) and so ya im super happy!and as an alternate i will still get to cheer at all the home games which will be awesome! right now we are doing a candybar fundraiser so if anybody sees me with a bag of candy you should ask to buy some! lol just a 1$! :)

OJH Track Meet

Talon, Bergen and Carly are participating in Olds Junior High Track and Field. They had their only home track meet today. They all did very well. Who would have thought a Knight actually running for fun....ha! It was 84 degrees outside and pretty hot. I can't imagine running even 100 meters let alone 1 mile. Carly participated in the 100m run as did Talon and Bergen. Talon and Bergen also did the mile run and the discus throw. (Sorry, Carly I don't know the other events you were in today.) Great job, kiddos. Keep working hard!

New Couch and Chairs

For those in the family who haven't heard, mom and dad got a new couch and then two new chairs that also match. They're really pretty, and I like the color. Just a word to the wise, if you weigh over 75 lbs, you might be asked to refrain from sitting on the couch. Dad's a little paranoid it'll break! lol

so basketball started for me right after spring break!!!! yay!!! our team has been 3-0 so far but we still have five more games coming up. so far we have beat Othello by like 5 points, Warden by alot:), and yesterday we played Finley and won by 4!!! it has been very fun so far and getting to know all of the girls better has also been a highlight! i'll have to post some pics of a game or something once my mom takes so pics. lol next game is in Royal on tuesday! wahoo! im so excited!

After traveling to Ensign a couple of weeks ago, I've decided it won't be as primitive as the "handcart trek" (remember I said that it WON'T), but it's going to be a lot of fun. Just make sure that you bring some kind of fip flops or slippers to wear (Flip flops would be more ideal w/snow as some of the floors are not very smooth. Mattresses seem pretty thin too! If you bring any air mattresses, you might want to bring plastic to put underneath. There is 2 fireplaces in the "activity room", which also has a pool table, shuffle board, fooz ball, ect. But bring any game that you have available (labled. They had a few games in a big box, but we don't know what condition they are in! Make sure you bring bedding, pillow and snow clothes. There is heaters in each of the rooms in the lodge and each of the bunkhouses. They will have a Christmas tree for us to decorate. If you have any festive stuff that would add to the holiday--BRING IT. Also we may be able to have a horse pulled ride (if there is not too much white stuff.) Also is fishing (diehards you can bring your gear!!!). Elk watching where they feed the elk, a couple of miles away. We can not snowmobile inside park, but snopark is close, as well as skiing. Bring sleds, tubes, and whatever you choose to slide down the hills! This should be a fun experience!!

What a special time of the year to vocally give thanks. We are thankful for this great year of 2009. We added one special baby to our family! We are blessed for this event. We are grateful for our many many blessings, which includes a wonderful family who give us many joys. We thank our Heavenly Father for his patience, kindness and bounteous blessings!

We are thankful for our pilgrim fathers, who endured much, our pioneer ancestors for their diligence in giving us the opportunity to have the gospel in our lives. We will forever praise their names.

We are thankful for our children, who are striving to put the Lord's teachings into their lives, and the lives of their children. We are so blessed. You are an awesome group, who show Christ-like love to each other and those around you! May the Lord bless you and strengthen you. Love, Mom

What a great treat to have Aunt Verda (87) & Uncle Willard (93) come with their son, Neil and wife, Pat. Such a GOING pair. I hope that I'm still that strong when I get their age! Uncle Willard is legally blind, but is able to navigate fairly well. I was able to catch up on all of the Stoker cousins and their families because the group had visited them all! We had a great dinner together (also with Dennis and Lora Jo, Jim and their spouses)--thanks to Nichole and Becky! THe food was most wonderful!

McKay's a Star, Well...err...a Sunbeam!

This was my first experience of having a child in a Primary Program. I've been on the end where I've had to be in charge of, said program, and that is stressful. This time, I just got to sit back and relax, well kind of. I was worried McKay wouldn't sit still, would't say his line, etc. Thankfully, he was one of the first ones, and his line was, "My body is a temple." He got up, and the teacher prompted a little, but he said his line, and it was clear as a bell! I just wanted to cry. He has really come along way, and I am just so grateful that he has finally begun to be more verbal. He was also very sweet trying so hard to sing the songs up there. He tried so hard. Next year I will be more diligent in playing the songs in the car and around the house. He has just started getting into singing, so I'm pretty sure, even if I'd tried earlier, he wouldn't have done it!

Also, he had to take up his Transformers with him. I tried so hard to get him to leave them on the bench, but he refused. Luckily they distracted him enough to keep him sitting more still up there.

Here he is this morning before church. He looked so handsome! He had to include Bumblebee and Optimus in the photo shoot. He even had to allow for them each to have an individual picture. He is such a funny kid.

GRANDMA'S HALLOWEEN PARTY

Just a quick note to tell you the annual party will be Oct 31 @ 3pm. If you want to come earlier that will be fine. We will do TRUNK & TREAT. It will be the usual with prizes for the best (or worst!) costumes, etc. Be creative! We will follow w/ wiener roast ect. Grandma will furnish the wieners and buns and drink. If you care you can bring salads or desserts. Plan for a fun day and if weather permits Grandpa will have the horses out!

BIG STOKER REUNION 2010

2010 Grandpa Lee & Ethel Stoker would be have been 100 years old. We are planning a 2-3 day reunion for July. It will be at Windust Park. The dates are July 15, 16, & 17. (We will not be having the usual Memorial Day Fest as this will be in lieu of it.) So mark it on your calendars. This will be Thurs, Fri, and Sat.--Camping will be the order of the day and since many of us live near--we will try to reserve "spots." Plan to make it a fun tribute!

ok so some of the family went to grama and grampas house on labor day. and if u havnt heard yet mr. wiggles (the horse) is now trained so we can ride him or her. lol but this video i just had 2 share it is of nicole riding the horse and i think it is hilarious! i cant believe i got it recorded!!! well just see for urself! ill have to post some other pics later of other people riding mr. wiggles. well school has started and im loving it (even though it is so harder then last year) but for math and spanish i get 2 credits for my freshman year so it has been harder classes. volleyball has been fun and my first game is on the 24th against othello!!! im so excited! o and livestock show was just this last weekend and i had alot of fun and even made some new friends. i got $6.50 for my sheep and it weighed about 138lbs! well i've got to go bye!

We were so glad Kyle told us about this Island. It is like taking a step back in time. There are no cars on the island, only horses, carriages, and bicycles. The one picture is of the ferry boat that took us accross to the island. The picture of the fort that was built by the British in 1600. There is a picture of one of the Grand Hotels and another of one of the many homes. It was very touristy but also very interesting!

Newel K. Whitney Store & Kirtland Temple

The film at the visitor's center in Kirtland was awesome! We went to the Whitney Store and I was able to look through the accounts book and find Vinson Knight's name and Reuben McBride(I would have liked to browse more into the book but the group was waiting on me!). But, the account book made them more real! We didn't find Vinson Knight's home this time--mostly because we didn't take time! The facimile of the sawmill and the ashery were most enlightening. I always had wondered where they got money to buy the needed supplies for the Temple completion and the ashery answered that question!

This visit to the Kirtland temple was in the evening and it was so beautiful sitting so magestically on the hill. The grounds were so beautiful!

Funeral

Just got back from Lame Deer, MT for funeral for Gail Tallwhiteman. Kyle and Jana went with Dad and I. It was a fast trip, but very rewarding. The town treated us with much love and kindness. We saw the tribe in a time of sadness, but also saw a unity the was unmatched for people who had little material things. The funeral service was a combination of Catholic and Cheyenne. Even the Priest (who really seemed a Deacon)was very kind to us. We were especially sad to see the LDS Church boarded up and chain link fence surrounding it.

The cemetery was a Tallwhiteman cemetery. It was on a lovely hill top with pine, wild flowers and sage growing. It was already occupied by Gail's 3 Sisters and a brother; two sisters and the brother had died of alchoholism and Gail and another sister, of Lupus. For people who had little material things they showed us kindness and love. We found that they treated us as their family (We think the entire town is related!) I even was invited to speak at her services. The Cheyenne chants and talks in their native language were very interesting!

We found a few that came up and told us that they had lived with the Schwendimans, Perks, Mackey, and Homer families! I asked if it had helped their lives. They all said yes! I know Heavenly Father loves these people and wish the Gospel was part of their lives. Love, Mom

Our Trip to Utah!

Okay, since mom is always saying she is the only one that puts anything on this blog, I am purposefully putting our trip to Utah on here. Also, if anyone wants to view my blog, please email me at marcicox8@gmail.com and I will invite you to view it if I find you worthy to do so! :) Ha!
Anyways, Talon, Kade and I were able to go to Utah on July 6th and stay until Monday, July 13th. We had a great time visitng with the Selbe's and doing all the fun things around Salt Lake City. We enjoyed hanging out with Cydney too. We went to Lagoon with the Blacks and Cydney. We also attended the Oquirrh Mountain Temple Open House which was beautiful beyond belief.

After dinner we let Cyd take the kids home so Charles, Mikaela and I could go to the distribution center. Not more than 30 minutes passed and we get a call saying McKay threw up all over the couch and himself. Glad that was Cyd that had to clean up the mess. Just giving her extra practice for when she becomes something in the medical field! Love you, Cyd!
Oh, when we went to Lagoon we visited the Pioneer Village there. Kade was hanging with Cyd and I while Talon was off with the Black kids riding the rides. We came across some wagons and Kade made me take pictures to show Grandpa, so these pictures are for you Grandpa Knight!

On Friday Mikaela, McKay, Talon, Kade and I went to Temple Square and were able to watch the "Joseph Smith" movie. We got to the theater for the 9:00 a.m. showing and were the only ones there besides two elderly women. The movie was excellent. My kids loved it and Talon was very impressed with Joseph Smith and the many trials he went through in his life. We then went to the top of the Church Administration Building where a very nice older women gave us a tour of Salt Lake City via the rooftop. After that we went to the Beehive House and toured it. The kids all liked it and McKay was the group photographer. We then went to The Lion House for lunch.

Cydney also took us up to the University of Utah to show us the gym and her locker room. The boys were excited to visit the locker room and see her name and number on the wall and chair. "Mom, Cyd's like famous!" We seem to think so! Thanks for the tour and the fun trip down the back stair way....hey, Mikaela don't get lost in the dark!

Our trip to Utah was fun and packed with lots of things to do. We were on the go almost everyday, but it was a great trip. Thanks Miakaela and Charles for letting us stay at your house and for going to tons of places with us. Also, thanks Cyd for not being too good for us and hanging out with your old auntie. We are ready to go back anytime!

Thanks to Jana, Becky, Lisa, and Nichole for all the work for the Wedding dinner (? I'm not sure when it's at night, exactly what it's called) but, anyway, everything went great and the service was supberb. (Becky showed that she hadn't forgotten those "waitress skills"! It was fun to serve family and a wonderful marriage of April and Bryce. And thanks to the girls, I just sat and watched. The food looked very appealing and so thanks again! Love, Mom

This past week was definitely one that Dad and I will remember! Thanks family for a great week-end. The joy I felt Friday as ALL of our children and nearly all of spouses were in the 5 pm Temple session is Indescribable! It was a full week-end with a Spanish Carne Asada @ the Schull's. YUM; picture taking starting @ 6:30 on Sat. and a great barbecue afterwards, then the open house @ Olsens in the late afternoon. WOW so much packed into a day! Fun to have family come from such long distances. And to each of you who came or sent cards and wished us happiness, we truly will cherish forever! Our family had put together (Nichole) a book of past pictures and tributes from our children and brothers and sisters--what a great labor of love--Thanks seems a small return for so much work. They had even copied our original wedding cake! We love our family and it was so much fun to get pictures of each of you and the stage coach and buggies made a great backdrop!

Today is a anniversary of a birthday girl, who would be 20 today! This picture is a little out of season, but is great because she is w/Santa Dad! For the 11 years she was with us we are grateful for she taught us a lot about endurance and none of us can claim the right to "life isn't fair." She had a capacity for patience and joy (as "Santa" could make her giggle with joy!) We miss her, but rejoice that she is doing the things now that her physical limitations kept her from like talking, walking,dancing, singing and just rolling over. MEMORIAL DAY

Today is a beautiful 70+day! We don't get to many Memorial Days like this! (Does this mean 4th of July will be cold?) The cemetery was beautiful in the early morning and peaceful. It made me wonder what Cassie was doing today. Does she know that there is an empty spot in our family? Does she wonder how we can make so many mistakes? Does she know that love is eternal? Does she wait for us and wonder why we accomplish so many meaningless tasks? Does she know that her brief life touched so many? We love her and know that she has just gone on ahead--maybe to make our path easier. Will she be there to show us what to do and where to go? I truly hope so. We love you little Grand-daughter!

I have had such great examples in mothering, and I just wanted to say Happy Mother's Day to some of my favorites! (plus i saw this on my friend Tamara's blog, and i thought it fab, so thanks for the idea Tam!)
Mom-You are such a pillar of strength, determination, and devotion! You are the most Christ-like person I know, and you have gone through a lot! I have often wondered how differently my life would have turned out had you not recovered after Kelli's birth. I am so grateful that the Lord spared your life because he knew that I needed you! Thanks for being such a great mom! I love you!

Jeri is such an example to me. I remember being little and seeing her struggle to have children. When she was finally blessed with 3, she dedicated herself to them! She read books, attended classes, and truly has done a wonderful job raising her children! She has taught me through her example, and I am so glad to see that even through challenges she has NEVER given up! She is such an inspiration to me! I love you Jeri!

Kelly B. She has been such an example to me at NEVER complaining about the difficulties dealt her! She will NEVER know the impact that has had on ME and I'm sure everyone around her. I have also loved the talent for music she has passed down to each of her children. This talent has enriched and blessed my own life! I love you Kelly B!

Kelly F. has also been such a great example in motherhood. I have never seen someone SO devoted to everything that her children are involved in. She never misses a chance to cheer on her children in sports, especially! I love how she shows her dedication to them in their endeavors! I love you Kelly F!

Jana has almost been like a second mother to me. I remember when I was little, she would sometimes clean my room and help me with my homework. She has shown me a lot of great examples in motherhood, but the biggest one is that even when you're busy with several little ones, you can still serve others! She is constantly serving in the church, in her home, and in our extended family. What a blessing she is to me and to those around her! Thanks for showing me to serve! I love you Jana!

Lisa was also very mothering to me, even as a teenager. I remember sometimes her advice was the only advice I would take. She never gave up on me! She has also perserviered through several trials in having children. She is such a strong person! She does such a great job at balancing motherhood, work, and the church. It is truly inspiring how much she accomplishes! I am amazed she has any energy at all! I love you Lisa!

Wendy is one of the kindest people I've ever known. I honestly do not believe I have EVER heard her raise her voice to her children. She is patient, kind, and caring! She probably doesn't know this, but I often find myself TRYING so hard to speak in calm, quiet tones to McKay because I've seen her do it so often. It has really helped me to keep my temper in check. Thank you Wendy for being such an example to me! I love you!

Becky is the mover and shaker in our family! She is constantly working hard at everything she does. She juggles several jobs as well as motherhood, and she is ALWAYS up for pitching in wherever needed. I swear she has more energy sometimes than the energizer bunny! What a strong example of putting your shoulder to the wheel. In turn, she has taught her children to be such hard workers! What a blessing in their lives. Thanks Becky for showing me how to work hard for everything!

Marci is such an inspiration to me. When I think of someone who has gone through a lot of trials in life, I think of Marci. She has dealt with a lot, but she has always made it through! I am also so grateful for her knowledge and education. She is one of the first people I call when I have a question about McKay or when I need advice with him. She always takes the time to listen, even with her busy job, and I always appreciate it! I love you Marci!

Sonja has such fun, energetic kids! She does a lot of the parenting alone because of Laron's job. I have never heard her complain, ever! She has such a fun sense of humor, and her children are also funny! I also love that she has taught them to be independent, to come up with a way to solve the problems while she is working. She also runs such a successful business and balances motherhood! It is amazing to me that her house is not in shambles, but it never is! I love you Sonja!

Nichole is my current example of motherhood. I remember being pregnant with McKay and her being able to tell me things to try and to do. She is someone I call when McKay has a fever, gets a cut, or really, anything. She always seems to know the answers. She has such great kids, and I often try to be more like she is. She has also been there anytime I've needed help with McKay. She won't ever know how much I appreciate having her as an example and mentor! I love you Nichole!

Kelli is not quite a mother, yet, but I know that she will be a great mother! I have seen her help in so many ways not only with McKay, but with a lot of other children as well. She is such a quiet example, and I cannot wait to see her with her own children! She is such an inspirational person, and I consider her one of my best friends! I love you Kelli, and even though you're not a mom, I want you to know you make a difference in MY child's life, and it means a lot to me!
I hope that all of you wonderful women in my life have a Happy Mother's Day! I love you all, and I hope you realize how blessed and lucky I am to have your examples!

'Tis Spring?

Wow! I just wonder when it's going to be spring! I just went out to check my roses and I pruned them when it was time--but, I think they've gotten some frost damage and hopefully, they will come out of it! I've quite a bit of yard work to do, but Jeri, Kelly B, and Becky came and cleaned up high(inside)--sure humbles one to have someone else clean their (your) messes. But, anyway THANKS!
I got a cortisone shot last Thursday and it hurt like a severe toothaches for several hours, but after I whined to the Dr. & got hydrocordone it has felt so much better. I told the doc to schedule surgery for June, but now I'm wondering if I'll keep feeling better...sure feels good to not be in pain! O-don't get old! Love, Grandma K

This and That

We were able to see Kyle and Caleb and Jana and Tom and their kids over conference. It is always really fun to spend time with family. We really have missed everyone since moving here to Utah. So if you haven't come down yet, come on down for a visit!

McKay had Spring break for 3 days ending on Monday. We are slowly getting back into a routine. I don't know why I don't want to get up in the mornings. I've always been a morning person.

Lately McKay's been locking Cici in rooms. Poor cat! This morning Charles found Cici in the garage, where she spent the night. McKay must've put her in there before he went to bed. This morning, he locked Cici in my bathroom. I was downstairs and I heard some thrashing around and the toilet lid slam down. I ran upstairs, and there she was! Last week, he locked her in the downstairs bathroom, and she used the sink as the facilities! YUCK!

So life is moving along for us. I just thought I'd say hello to the family. Also, has everyone gotten the picture information for the family pictures? If not, let me know!

Today was one of the most spiritual Sacrament/Testimony meetings I've been to! I loved the sweet spirit. Saturday, after moving Laron and Sonja into their new home, we had the traditional Easter get-to-gether @ Mark's. From the basket's of booty, there probably wasn't any left in the stores for anyone else! It was great to have Kortney and Jase there, home from BYU-I and Dane from China.

Today, Scott and Kelly hosted the Connell Tribe for ham dinner--yum-yum--that is, all except the Eskildsen's, who already had dinner guests coming! It was a day to count our blessings and to remember the great gift our Heavenly Father gave to us by allowing His Son to suffer and atone for me. For this, I can hardly comprehend, but I am grateful. Thanks family for your faithfulness! We love you--Mom

Hey family! Here are four of the million pictures from Jr. miss. I got to say it was one of the most funnest things I have done in a long time and I miss it alot. I come home from track practice thinking I need to go to Jr. miss practice. I miss it allot and enjoyed being with all of the girls and of course the ESCORTS!!!ha ha my escort was Blake Neilson. Slowing Down

Ray and I got back last week from a week in Utah, Idaho and Nevada. Spent a couple of days with Mikaela and Charles and that was fun to see how McKay has improved with his speech. We were able to go to UofU Girls BB game. Sorry Cyd didn't get to play, but was wonderful to visit with her and her famly (who were also there for the game.) Kris had his surgery and has arrived back in Utah--still with headaches, but we hope it is just the aftermath of the very invasive surgery on his neck--for now he has just traded one headed for another. The Dr. said it may be 6 months before he knows if the surgery has releaved the headaches.

It was good to sleep back in our own beds again. But, I've decided that Connell looks good compared to the middle of Nevada--I have a new concept of barren!

MOre Pictures

These are a few more Pict: The first three are in Guatamala. Top one is a Spanish "Castle" on the Dulce River. It was built in 1595 by the Spanish to keep there "loot" in before sending to Spain and was called "Isabella" (after Queen Isabel). But, pirates tried to get the booty too and it was used to store the treasures and also to prison the pirates. Included cannons on top. The second pict is part of the group inside the castle. Next pict is taken from inside the van--we had to stop to let bananas cross the rode! The last is the "singing brothers" doing karaoke on the boat. Ask Mark about it! Oh, what fun, why did we have to come back to the cold!!

Second picture was taken @Oak Plantation in New Orleans, where we met Scott and Kelli to go on a "Bayou" boat ride, then to the Plantation. We experienced Biegnet's for breakfast at Demonds in the French Quarter. Third pict is after a hour or more van ride in Belize and then 25 mi ride up the New River to Lamanai to see ruins. 1st Picture: Our ventursome group: Scott, Kelly, Mark, Wendy, Chris, Becky and Dewain and Lisa climbing the "pyramid"! @ Lamanai. Seems that Christmas came so fast and left just that way. We enjoyed baby blessings, Ordinations and lots of food and family. It was good to have the Stapleton's here for the season--we even got to the cabin thanks to Mark and his family and their snowmobiles! We almost needed snowmobiles to get around our yard!

The only bad thing was that Mikaela and Charles were not here. I kind of bailed out and had only a breakfast w/ marrieds and spouses--we missed Wendy and Sonja too, but it was fun and I had pressed my youngest "slave" and her husband into "combat" duty. Thanks to Nichole for the great "banditos" for place-cards.
As usual, Christmas was a busy busy afair, but it was one of the best thanks to Dave and Marci. We Missed Selbe's and Kyle's family. From what I've heard, I think that every Grandkid must have been EXTRA GOOD because I didn't hear of anyone left out!
We even got to sleep in until 8am--give you a few years and you can too! Love, Mom

Week of the GIRLS!

Two baby girls made their way to the Knight Clan: Katherine Nichole was born on Monday the 10th weighing in at 8# 11 oz; 19 1/2 inches to Nichole and Sam Harris. Ava Lynn was born this morning (11-15) weighing 7# 8 oz; 20 inches. Her parents: Korrine and Alan Sessana! I'm sure those two were waiting to see who would come first! A Grand and a Great in the same week!! We are thrilled for these wonderful bundles of joy. CONGRATULATIONS!!!!

hey family! homecoming was great! i would like to thank uncle chris for taking us all on a plane ride, that was pretty sweet! thank you sonja for doing my hair, all the other girls were jealous cause they dont have a aunt as awsome as you!:P haha. thank you grandma for the necklace and earings, o shoot i still need to give those back to you. thank you janna for the advice about my dress! i am so glad to have a big family that can help me with all this crazy stuff lol. i have a great story to tell! on the way back from the dance, i told my date (blake neilson) that he should go faster cause it was like 5 mins tell i was sopose to be home so he went alot faster like 10 or 15 miles over the speed limit (hehe it was great) just to mess around. then we see this car we are about to pass, and blake is like "it would be funny if that was a cop." and right when we past it we see that it is a cop. and so ya we got polled over all because i had to open my mouth and tell him to go faster. lol i felt bad. he got a 144$ ticket. man i am so horrible. but other then that the date was great!

Life in Utah!

We're getting settled into our house in Utah. Our house is about 90% put together...we don't have pictures or anything hung yet, we're still waiting for Marci's visit to do it! haha! However, we do have most of our stuff put away and organized...well I should say the stuff we're pulling out. It'll come together, hopefully today.

McKay started school on Monday. His teachers are Margaret and Maria. He has I believe about 10-12 kids in his class. He goes Monday through Friday from 8:10 to 11:10. He's adjusting, but he's doing okay for the most part. He loves going, which is good. He loves having a backpack and toting it around.

Since we've moved here, McKay's taken over our coffee table in the living room. He has turned it into his downstairs train table. He brings excess tracks down from his real train table and creates his own tracks downstairs. It's kind of nice to see him playing with some regular stuff for long periods of time.

Charles has had some days off work to help get the house organized. I'm not sure if that's good or bad. We tend to go and do things rather than spend all the time we need to working. He goes back on Monday though, and I think I'll be a little bored without having him as a distraction.

I'm still working on getting all of my things complete so I can start working as a sub, and hopefully as a full-time teacher soon. Let's pray someone goes on Maternity leave or something, so I can get a job!

Other then that, our life is normalizing. We did get new phone numbers: both home and cell numbers. Be looking for the updated phone list soon to have them on there (or get them from mom/grandma) if you need them! We miss you all!

Basketball Season is Almost Here

Hi knight family! It's cydney, blogging from the great city of salt lake. Things are going well... ball is starting up soon and preseason training is as hard as ever. This is my teammate and I going out for the bday dinner. It was yummy! I went over to mikaela and charles' place last sunday for dinner and it was awesome! There have a nice spot going on there... Love you all and hope that you make it to a game or tow or three! We play at oregon state this year so if salt lake is a bit too far to drive, you should go! Love, cydney

It's pretty bad when we have to go to the blog because our college son will not call us ever! I'm sure that if i took all his moneyu out of his account he might be calling.

We went to the cabin this weekend with BErgen and some of his friends for his birthday. We then went to Jubilee and hiked the 2.6 miles and canoed around the lake. We saw a bald eagle there and saw or rather smelled a dead dear in the water on our hike. It was fun. It had rained so it was nice and moist everywhere. We are going to attempt to put some pictures on here.
